Worth the Wait

So a common sweet on Boys’ Children’s Day is kashiwa mochi, which is exactly like every other Japanese sweet ever in that is pounded rice wrapped around red bean paste, but this time it’s totally unique and special because it is wrapped in a leaf… but not a cherry leaf, an oak leaf.  So yeah generally I don’t get worked up about them.   But sometimes I can find miso-flavored bean paste.   I’ve been looking but haven’t found it until now, this year.

And it’s pink!

Soooo cute.   And yummy.
